|If I could have one super power, it would be to inflict mental pain on people. Why? I want the ability to make Stupid hurt.|
I'm an account representative for medical supplies. I talk to Doctor's offices all day long, selling them products, helping them with technical issues, and trying to push their issues to the forefront of whoever can fix their problem. It sucks, but it pays the bills. I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it.
I get into work today, start making my rounds of the people I have to contact, a problem with our lab, an issue with a product, just generally keeping busy till I go home. Or, that's how the day is supposed to go. Today was a little more ludicrous. I got a call about 15 minutes into my day from one of the people in Accounts Receivable.
"Hi Bob, it's Donna Smithee" (name changed to protect the retarded)
"Hi Donna, what's up?"
"Account number 1450359, they sent in some stuff to our lab, a month and a half ago, and they say it should be given at a current running discount"
"Yes, as noted in the account, she is a staff member, thus qualifies for the staff member discount".
"Well, we don't have any record to show that she knows about the discount, so we can't give it to her".
WTF is AR smoking?
"Well, if she's asking for it, shouldn't she know about it?"
"Okay, well, they were assigned to me after the case was sent in, so I couldn't remind them to send the advertisement with the offer on it. Can you just override the price to show the discount?"
"No, you have to fax them the discount, then have them send it to us, so we know that they know about the discount."
"And how should they send it back to us?"
"The bill is coming due, so the best way to get it back to us is to fax it"
brain starts hurting
"So, Donna, I just want to get this straight: I need to contact the office, and fax them the advert, so they can fax it back to us, so we know that they know about it?"
idiot warning level: RED
I talk to my supervisor, yup, I have to do it, because, no matter how stupid it sounds, AR aren't the brightest crayon's in the box.
Idiot: take two
Last week, I was away training for two full days. at the same time, they assigned me 300 new doctors to deal with. No problem there... except we're supposed to contact them every 37 days... well, except if it has just been assigned to you, then you have approximately 3 days to call all of them... And between all the other retarded shit, a good day of calling people is about 80 calls. Yup, that's 2 days down, and 300 people to call.
Usually, they only assign them 50 at a time, for the obvious "there's a lot of people you need to call" reason...
If you don't call them all, they take them away and penalize you for not calling them all. Except that they aren't supposed to take them away when they were just assigned.
So yeah, the person that takes away accounts, took away 210 accounts from me today. Except, she took them from the top of my list, the doctors I like and I call, rather than the doctors I haven't even talked to yet.
Completing the Idiot Trilogy: FishDaddy.
FishDaddy is the person whose job it is to let us trade the accounts we don't like for accounts that we think have promise. When someone calls us, and asks about certain products, we can request that they be assigned to us, so that we can help them get introduced to our products.
Now, I've only been in this position for about two months, so I've got a lot of accounts that I don't want to deal with. When someone calls in, I tend to try and trade for them...
FishDaddy has decided to be a bitch to me. She won't let me trade any of my accounts, because "I haven't called them for long enough"... Well fuck you, I've only been working here for 2 months!
And yet, the reason I'm supposed to be taking inbound calls is to talk to doctors and offices I can get along with, but when I find one, they won't let me?
Fuck you guys, I'm going home.
